November marks a great time of year in Cake Land. The weddings start using warm, earthy fall tones. We get to whip up pumpkin spice and rosemary lemon confections.

(Actually, most weddings are on Saturday but that's not a song lyric, now is it?)

There's nothing more special than a little one's very first birthday. We have the good fortune to be a part of a LOT of first birthdays and the magic doesn't escape us. It's a huge moment for the parents, the kids are at the peak of cuteness and the photo ops are endless. Take, for example, the requisite high-chair/baby/cake picture.... ever seen one cuter than this?
Our little cake looks like it took a bump at it's destination, but it's still absolutely adorable (if we do say so ourselves.)

These were so worth the wait. Here's a set of photos by the incredible Airika & Gerald Pope (Warning: visiting Airika & Gerald's site has been known to steal hours from one's day, create wistful romantic feelings and render awe induced speechlessness. They're really, really good at what they do.) from Samantha & Jonathan's wedding last summer.

Tarina & Michael were married at the beautiful Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie, WA. The couple requested a two tiered cutting cake in ivory with a sugar paste bow to top their tower of cupcakes.
The tower was accented with fresh flowers.
The bow was hand sculpted from sugar paste. Can you tell it's not from fabric?
The cupcakes were a mix of some of our favorites - La Nina de Chocolate Diablo, The Feather Boa & Summer in Your Hand.

Last weekend Wiggs (of I Am the Beholder fame) and Dave got married. Their reception was at the beautiful Pan Pacific hotel in Seattle and we provided a veritable SEA of mini cupcakes for their reception. This bride has gorgeous style (monochromatic silver & grey with pops of bright yellow? Awesome!) and we loved her vision for the cupcakes.
