The Tiki Tragedy

Look Cupcake participated in a wedding show on board the Skansonia yesterday. It was fantastic. If you're getting married in the Seattle area, you should check the boat out. It's beautiful and the staff there is wonderful!

For months I've had an idea rolling around my head for a display cake based on a tiki tattoo design. The Skansonia wedding show was the perfect excuse to create it. So, create it I did and I was THRILLED with the design. Until (dun, dun, DUUUN...) it had a little accident.

The cake took a tumble. Ruined.

Here's a picture of the scratch & dent Tiki cake. *Sniffle*
Tragic Tiki

I'll be working on recreating this guy in the near future.

Monkey Business

How stinkin' cute are these guys? They were ordered from all the way across the pond as a Valentine's Day surprise for someone locally.

The animal faces were hand made with fondant and placed on delicious chocolate cupcakes.

Something about the green tulle around all the shades of brown in this box struck me as really pretty.
(The tulle looks a little seafoam green in this picture, but is more kick-arse lime in real life. Photog skillz - I can not haz 'em.)

Chocobombs: (chocolate cake, ganche filling, whipped truffle frosting, buttercream chocolate chip flowers)

A closer shot of the little flower. This is piped from buttercream onto a chocolate chip and then placed on top of the cupcake. Another little chocolate chip is added as the flower's center.

What happens when someone with photography skills take pictures of a Look Cupcake mini sampler box?

See for yourself:

Jessie - of
Cakespy fame - took these awesome pictures of the little sampler box I left for her yesterday.

Awesome shots, Jessie!
